Greer McGettrick, (b. 1982, Los Angeles) artist/composer
McGettrick uses their backgrounds in visual arts and music to explore and at times to subvert the relationships among the composer, the performer, and the audience. Their work examines noise, and noise within the roles of music, play, and indeterminacy; McGettrick explores the interconnectedness of these sociopolitical themes specifically through a queer gender non-conforming lens. They live in Oakland, currently teach general music in at an elementary school. They received a M.A. in Music Composition from San Francisco State University in 2020.
